Farewell Spit

Farewell Spit is located on the north west corner of the South Island of New Zealand. During a tour of the South Island I visited Golden Bay and observed the Spit close by, but unfortunately although in season one can ride a special vehicle along the Spit, it was not operating the day we visited.

A satellite picture like that above on Google Earth can enlarge the spit right up and it is interesting to see.
