Public Information Office, Tirau.
.
About 50 minutes drive south east of Hamilton, via Cambridge, is the small township of Tirau.
.
This town really got their act together to make themselves unique and so attract visitors. There is much in this town to see, and buy, as it has a host of stores and displays of great interest.
.
Two of the main buildings are in the shape of animals, a dog (above) and a sheep. For any New Zealander who lives or is touring in the Waikato area, or any overseas visitors you must make a point of visiting Tirau. You can spend the better part of a day exploring this small country town. See the castle which houses a toy and doll museum, see the range of corrogated iron signs and sculptures, and see the many craft shops with locally produced goods.
