. Three Seagulls . Three seagulls on the sea wall at Maketu, Hawkes Bay, near Te Puke. It appeared that they wanted their photo taken, or did they just want food? :) .

Graffiti
.
This graffiti picture was among several such works of art on the warehouse building of Mico Wakefield in Frankton, Hamilton. I am unsure when it was done, but it appears to have been one of several done as a contest. They were all very good. Sadly I don't think they are still there now, as this picture was taken about four years ago.

Mum and Dad Swan with signets. Swans in New Zealand, and I think Australia, are all black. I do not think that white swans exist in the southern hemisphere, nor black ones in the northern hemisphere. If anyone can correct me here I would be pleased to know. Here is a photo taken a couple of years ago at a small lake on the north Shore of Auckland.

Wassat? A kitten temporarily adopted from the SPCA a few years back. We called her Honey. She was cute and very photogenic - but watch those claws!

Public Information Office, Tirau. . About 50 minutes drive south east of Hamilton, via Cambridge, is the small township of Tirau. . This town really got their act together to make themselves unique and so attract visitors. There is much in this town to see, and buy, as it has a host of stores and displays of great interest. . Two of the main buildings are in the shape of animals, a dog (above) and a sheep. For any New Zealander who lives or is touring in the Waikato area, or any overseas visitors you must make a point of visiting Tirau. You can spend the better part of a day exploring this small country town. See the castle which houses a toy and doll museum, see the range of corrogated iron signs and sculptures, and see the many craft shops with locally produced goods. . For more information, go here.

Tommy, dwarfed by the vegetables!

Tommy was a kitten we fostered temporarily for the Hamilton SPCA a couple of years back. He was a lovely natured little tabby, and as he was very photogenic I took many pictures of him. This was my favourite.

.
Raglan by the sea
.
Raglan seaside resort is a modest beach location 3/4 hour drive west of Hamilton. It has a popular surfing ocean beach and safe harbour swimming for those who prefer this.
The titanium-rich sand is black and can be picked up with a magnet if one wants to try, proving that it is basically iron sand.
.
Shellfish are also plentiful here as the local Maori population will attest, and sometimes swordfish can be caught in the waters off shore.

Click on the pictures for a larger view.

Cut-out Cows
.
These cut-out cows are located at the gate of an orchard in Hamilton, on the southern side. We have to smile each time we see them on passing.

. Inflatable clown . This is a large inflatable clown figure located in a used car lot in Hamilton to attract attention to the business. It was such a joyful figure I could not resist taking this photo. .

Te Kuiti Railway Station
This is front of the Te Kuiti railway station, away from the railway lines. As the station is no longer used the building has been turned into offices, and blends well with the main street of Te Kuiti, with nice gardens and footpath pavings.

Wall Painting
This large wall painting is at Te Kuiti, New Zealand, and looks like it was a combined effort of primary school shildren. I have no further information about it. Click to enlarge for more detail.
